How Bad Do You Want It? – Key Takeaways from Empowered to Live's January Series

As we step into 2025, there’s a question we all need to ask ourselves: How bad do you want it? Whether you’re chasing a new career, improving your health, or simply becoming the best version of yourself, the difference between those who succeed and those who don’t comes down to one thing: commitment.
In the first few weeks of January, the Empowered to Live podcast has been unpacking the crucial elements of goal-setting that separate dreamers from achievers. If you’ve been listening, you already know that it’s not enough to simply set a goal—you need to be intentional, strategic, and constantly re-evaluating to ensure you're on track.
Here are the key takeaways so far to help you achieve your 2025 goals, no matter how big or small they may be.
Week 1: Setting Goals That Stick
Starting 2025 with Purpose
The first step to achieving anything is deciding what you truly want. In week one, we focused on the importance of starting the year with a clear goal in mind. The key takeaway: without a goal, you’re just floating. Whether it’s a New Year’s resolution or a long-term dream, writing it down and committing to it is the first step toward success. Most people do not complete their goals because the goals are not SMART, they have too many to focus on. A confused mind never buys, so if you have too many goals to accomplish then you are spreading yourself too thin. Pick on and complete it, then move on. Less than 10% of people who set a goal accomplish their goal. Say after me “ I will be in that 10% and I will finish strong!”
Week 2: Finding Your Why – The Power Behind the Goal
“When you know your why, your what becomes more clear and impactful.” Michael Jr.
In week two, we dived deeper into the importance of knowing your why. Goals without a purpose are fleeting. It’s the “why” behind the goal that fuels the grit and determination to keep pushing when things get tough. The takeaway: the stronger your why, the easier it becomes to stay committed. Ask yourself: What’s driving you? Remember to dig deep, and go beyond the superficial to find your big picture. What will achieving this goal mean for your life and how will it make an impact on others?
Week 3: S.M.A.R.T.E.R Goals – Making Sure Your Goals Are Designed for Success
“If you don’t plan, you plan to fail.”
This week, we broke down how to make sure your goals aren’t just wishful thinking—they need to be S.M.A.R.T.E.R! Here’s a quick refresher:
Specific / Significant
Measurable / Motivational
Achievable / Adjustable
Realistic / Relevant
Time-bound / Tangible
And then, to make your goals even more dynamic:
Evaluate and Reevaluate
Revise as needed
The takeaway: Goals aren’t static; they should evolve as you do. Write out your goals; keep them simple and S.M.A.R.T.E.R Regularly assessing your progress and adjusting your approach is key to staying on track and getting closer to your vision.
So, How Bad Do You Want It?
As you reflect on the first few weeks of 2025, take a moment to ask yourself this powerful question: How Bad do you want it? If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to overcome obstacles, break down your goals into actionable steps, and keep going even when things get tough.
Remember, the difference between those who achieve their dreams and those who don’t isn’t talent or luck—it’s persistence. If you’re ready to achieve, to grow, and to push yourself past what you thought possible, then this is your year. Remember to also celebrate your milestones
Week 4: Ready, Set, Goal! – Turning Dreams Into Action
“Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway.” Earl Nightingale
By now, you’ve probably done a lot of reflecting, set your intentions, and laid the groundwork for your goals. In week four, it’s time to take action. It’s not enough to have a dream—you’ve got to put in the work to make it real. The takeaway: set your dreams into motion by breaking them down into manageable steps and taking that first action today. Whether it’s making a phone call, sending an email, or creating a plan, this is where the magic starts to happen. No more waiting. It’s time to go.
Week 5: It’s Time to Renewing Your Dreams – Living Purposefully at Any Age
“People would rather choose safety than chase their dreams because they can’t fail, but if you don’t try then you can’t succeed either.” Kevonstage
As we wrap up the series, this last week we focused on renewing your dreams. No matter where you are in life, it’s always a good time to refocus on your goals, refresh your purpose, and dream with renewed clarity.
