Rewrite Your Story

Have you ever wished that you could go back in time and rewrite your life story? I often wished that I could go back and take out all the bad parts that caused me pain and the illnesses and the deaths that I knew could have been prevented. Although I know that is not possible to change the course of my past history, I know that God who wrote my story did so with love; even though it may not have felt that way while I was experiencing it. One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8: 28 where Paul says that "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose." I like to say that God is weaving everything together to make a beautiful tapestry that will bless others. When I think about what it looks like on the underside of a beautiful tapestry with its jumbled up mess but what is presented to the world is a work of art. Your life may be a "hot mess" but God is working to write your story. When you think of all the things in your life that happened for you and not to. Changing how you see your past will help you to shape the way you go into your future. That is something that I have had to do looking at everything through the lens of what was God trying to do for me. Though he did not commit the hurt in my life he allowed it for a reason, and as I have grown in my faith can now see some of the whys being answered. Every time I share my story with others and I see lives changed I realize that God wrote my story others, but also to give me a lesson in strength that I could not have imagined. So when you look back over your life, see the hand of God, how he kept you, protected, provided, and comforted you. In this way, the past stings will be healed and will not triumph over your present or future. July 22, 2018
